Sorry for babbling along in English. But while I am preparing my keynote speech for Austria’s most important tourism conference at Schönbrunn Palace, too much exciting stuff is popping up. And I want to share it with you.
Take a look at this video by Virgin Airlines on YouTube. It has been viewed more than 83.000 times (in 7 months) and it has sparked almost 150 comments. CEO Fred Reid shows off the joy of flying with Virgin Airlines and how they are already preparing for the Digital Natives offering all kinds of electronic gadgets and communication devices. While their site is elegant, beautiful and yet uses old fashioned marketing speak, I love the style of the YouTube-video. It underlines the first of my seven travel 2.0 trends:
Drop Marketing Speak for Authenticity!
Schön, dass Sie wieder hier sind :-) Kennen Sie schon meine Leistungen für Sie?

Yes, this is pretty impressive, especially from a former establishment airline – Lufthansa – senior executive. The U.S. traveling public deserves a break from the tedious flying experience. Now, if by magic I could be dropped off at the aircraft door from my home, that would truly be the greatest improvement! Alas, it won’t happen, except maybe in Second Life……
Well, before that happens, Scotty will be beaming us up. An Austrian professor is working on that.
Of course they cleverly positioned him in the exit seat of this airplane when showing off economy
Well, Nicole… now this is an example of transparency at work. Right?
