When Travel 2.0 meets Print Advertising 1.0

HolidayCheck is the leading platform for hotel and trip reviews in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Last month they introduced a clever idea to the classic wold of print advertising. Teaming up with the large German supermarket discounter Lidl – that also sells discount trips – both pushed the Sun Island Resort in the Maledives by adding the rate of recommendation as reviewed by users at HolidayCheck on their print brochure.

Speaking of hotels, I highly recommend reading VacantReady, a very interesting blog from Canada targeting the hotel industry. Check out these recent posts:

Social media marketing is the future of hospitality branding

Looking for a well-made corporate blog? I suggest reading the excellent corporate blog by TouristR, a travel 2.0 start-up from Ireland. They actively asked users to test their beta-version. 800 users did. Their comments were taken seriously and even thanked for. That it the true spirit of the Social Web.

I met Jan Blanchard and Wannita Phanchana at the reboot9.0 in Copenhagen. Expect an interview soon in my English Articles Category.

Hi Karin, I’m delighted that you found my hotel blog…and thanks so much for the kind words.

    Hi Karin,

I have just realized that I didn’t include your blog on my Technorati ranking this morning.
I will amend the post this afternoon.
Your blog feature #23 (out 42 listed)

    Thanks.

    Guillaume

@Guillaume, thanks for stopping by and including me in your ranking.

@Jan, it was my pleasure. Translation of my latest review in a nutshell: Your team really knows how to work the blogosphere. You have Wannita to blog, you visit conferences and you asked beta-users for their help. Plus great T-shirt.
